Simple diet tips anyone?
So, I’m a bit overweight.
I’m 5’4 1/2 ” and 159.7 lbs.
It’s not really that “obvious” I just have a tummy, and a “lightly puffy” face, and look a little thick.
(Pic from 2 nights ago to prove my point)

Do you guys have any suggestions on easy to do diet tips?
I usually just avoid snacks and sweets OR (not and) Soda’s. That tends to have a really good effect. However, i’ve noticed that I have been drinking tonz of water (like 5/6 bottles a day) and almost no soda. This was naturally though, not by choice per say.
I do drink alcohol, but not like everyday. Maybe 3/4 days a wk for like 3 weeks then i’ll go like 3-5 weeks without drinking at all. Another natural not by choice action, it’s just the way things tend to happen.
I HATE crunches, but usually the no soda thing makes my tummy flat, or just not eating. I think its more of a bloated thing then a “stuck fat”. If I dont eat, I look flat(ter), but soon as I get breakfast, it’s back to normal.
So I’m just looking for some natural tips, like not any medicines to take daily, or “a work out plan/dietician” And I actually hear that all these fat free things aren’t that healthy because of unmentioned ingredients.
I dunno, any habit / life changing techniques? I’m not trying to be boney or have “a 6 pack”, I just want to shed +/- 30 pounds.
OH! My eating habits.
I dont like too much candy, but chocolate and icecream (not together) is a big weakness.
I LOVE vegetables and can’t go a day without eating them. I literally crave them.
Not a big meat fan, but I love sausage (like rogerwood), and chicken. (I hear beef takes longer to digest, so that I could go without if necessary)
I drink 2% milk, eat rice almost daily, and am on no medications.
I’m a college student, so i’m active you know on weekends with my friends, and tend to eat less when I am out with them, but i’m not on like a daily workout plan.

This isn’t a diet, but a different way of eating. You will lose a dramatic amount of water weight the first week, but that’s all it is. Carbs hold 3x their weight in fluids which are released the first week. If you go back to carbs you refill your carb reservoirs & the fluids. You will lose more body fat eating protein and fat (don’t eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you’ll need added potassium). Keep the calories high and the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.
If you starve yourself by lowering calories lower than are needed for the body to function, your body will freak out and will want to store every ounce in case it doesn’t get nourished again. You need to give it adequate nourishment so it doesn’t slow your metabolism down to adjust for lower calories.
Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin which can store the calories you eat into fat. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate you eat the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.
Carbs are addictive and can be disastrous to our health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs and eat one every time you want “something” have huge omelets for breakfast, with bacon, a lil onion, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Pork chops for lunch. Get pork rinds and eat them with tuna salad. Steak for dinner. Make a huge sugar free cheese cake for dessert. Eat so much you won’t feel deprived of anything. By the fourth day, your addiction will be gone and you can start making healthy choices.
High insulin levels unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels.
Dr.Atkins was a cardiologist, low carb was a health plan easier sold as a “diet” Read any of his books for easily understandable science. Lutz “Life without Bread” & Taubes “Good calorie, bad calorie” are excellent books that dispel all the nutrition myths.
Reducing body fat and increasing muscle mass will have you in awesome shape in no time. Good luck!

I am your height and went from 185 to 110 eating small meals throughout the day. A typical day goes like so:
breakfast: egg on english muffin (200 calories); or bowl of Special K or Grape Nuts or any nonsugary cereal); or yogurt with fruit mixed in; or plain oatmeal with pb mixed in
Snack 2 hrs later: Nutri Grain or Fiber One bar; or a serving size of almonds; or yogurt; or string cheese; or fruit (i love to mix fresh strawberries cut up with pineapple or blueberries)
Lunch: weight watchers or lean cuisine meal; or tuna sandwich or turkey with lots of lettuce and tomatoes
Snack 2 hrs later: same stuff as the snacks above, or raw vegetables with a 100-calorie pack of dip
Dinner: fish with whole grain brown rice (get the single serving size ones; should only be about 270 calories total); or chicken (I love to throw a chicken breast on the grill or the George Foreman and dip it in bbq sauce or A-1)
Snack 2 hrs later, if you want: same as others; or any 100 calorie packs; or granola bar; or cottage cheese
I still eat like this to this day (with a few cheat meals now and again or on weekends) and haven’t gained an ounce back.
As far as exercising, if you have access to your school’s gym, use it! Elliptical is great, so is the treadmill. Do 30-45 minutes 4 or 5 days a week. Get some hand weights at wal mart or something and do things like upright rows and bicep curls and squats at home while you’re watching TV.
Good luck; you’ll look amazing!
