Is it safe to drink fat free milk in pregnancy?

Wife2Pisces & Mom2VirgoNCancer asked:

I accidentally picked up fat free milk instead of 2 percent, is this ok to drink when you are pregnant, I remember fat being important part of the diet during pregnancy.

Of course it’s ok. What you want from milk is the calcium and other vitamins, not the fat.

After the age of 2 you are suppose to drink fat-free unless the Dr says otherwise. During pregnancy you want the nutrients and the calories not the fat so yes of course fat-free is what you should be drinking.

Adults really only need to drink fat free milk anyway.
The fat isn’t necessary for an adult.

Fat free milk is better than 2% milk – calcium & protein. You don’t need extra fat for your pregnancy unless you don’t consume any fats in your diet.
    Enjoy your fat free milk!

Yes. 2% is better because it’s got a little bit of healthy fat. But it won’t hurt you to drink the skim.
