There are so many quick weight loss fads it is sometimes hard to know which way to turn. And the most amazing looking people that could pass for graduates of Tyra’s Next Model Search, always seem to have just 10 more pounds to drop. Go figure??
So, whatever your reason, whether it’s for an upcoming class reunion, or a chance meeting with Mr. Right, or even a bride to be who just must fit into the most beautiful gown in the world, these quicky tricky weight loss tips will help you hit your goal. That is, as long as you remember the most important first step.
Make yourself a promise to stay the course and don’t quit, no matter how many times you slip into a pint of Chunky Monkey. Just stay with it and you’ll do just fine.
To start the fat burning as quickly as you can, let’s start you off with a few of the tips you’ll need.
1. Drink plenty of water. People sometimes confuse thirst with hunger. Drink plenty of water first. If you need some flavor to make your appetite happy, try mixing it with some juice or a cup of tea.
2. When you sit down to watch TV after work, it’s a trap for mindless snacking that can seriously put a dent in your weight loss goals. Give yourself a snack allowance and after that, stop eating. Try plain popcorn or crunchy vegetables that are low in calories instead of potato chips and cookies.
3. Change the way you shop. Instead of buying a box of cookies and candies, buy a smaller portion. Remember, moderation and moderation.
4. Eat smaller, frequent meals to give hunger a break. Try 4-5 small meals a day rather than eating 2-3 large meals. Eat your meals earlier in the day rather than late at night. You can burn more calories if you eat early.
5. Eat protein rather than carbs and fats because these will make you feel fuller for longer. More protein also encourages fat burning. Try lean protein sources like lean meats, egg whites, soy, nuts and beans.
6. Add spices or hot sauce to everything….except desert: more flavor in the food, more satisfying and you’ll eat less.
7. Stock your kitchen with ready-to-eat meals. This means you may have to cook on weekends and put them in storage containers. Salads are always fast. Throw some chicken on it, add a few nuts, tomatoes, cucumbers and some cheese and you have a healthy meal. Go light on the dressing as it is loaded with calories. Exercise your taste buds by trying a variety of low fat vinegar-based dressing choices.
8. Instead of ordering super sized meals when you’re at a restaurant, try a children’s portion or half portion. Also, try eating off of a smaller plate. It’s a neat trick that makes your brain think that you are eating a full plate. If you train your stomach by eating smaller meals, you’ll get full before you know it. Your mind has a lot to do with weight loss so take full advantage of it.
9. Pasta and bread can kill your diet. Try adding more vegetables to your pasta. Switch from cream based sauce to tomato based sauce or leave it out altogether. Season with some herbs and spices and lemon juice and you won’t miss the sauce.
10. Never skip breakfast. You can eat more and burn more calories in the morning than at night time. So, fill up with breakfast and go light in the evening.
11. Add fiber. Fiber will keep you regular and lower cholesterol. Fiber also makes you feel fuller so eat more fiber. Not from a box but in the form of vegetables, whole grains and fruits.
12. Restock your pantry and refrigerator with healthier foods. Don’t look at fatty foods and tempt yourself.
13. Don’t drive yourself crazy by weighing once a day, every day. Try weighing once a week or every 2 weeks or skip it altogether. Your clothes will tell you if you are on the right path or not.
14. Avoid calorie traps with beverages including alcohol. These are all empty calories so be mindful of what you are drinking. Stick with water.
